I remember once Ameen Sahab (late Ameen Sayani) & I were at the same programme – him in the audience and me on the podium. During a break he observed, Hareeesh, what you speak from the stage is very different from what people expect. Your words are possibly appreciated only by the first ten rows! What about the large number of back-benchers? And I, probably, disappointed him with my rejoinder that I speak only for the first ten rows! Others, I’m sure, will be okay with some punchlines.

At end of a compering gig, I’d rather hear people’s sweet shikaayats that we would have loved to hear more of you from the stage than face their silent ire about eating up precious stage moments.
